Tivoli/IBM was introducing a new OS upgrade, and wanted to target C-level decision makers and IT managers, to begin having a conversation with them. The idea was to get their attention with something appropriate for the office that would also sustain itself, rather than ending up in the trash. The analogy we made was getting started on the migration, and getting your day started with gourmet coffee. The first mailer had all the ingredients, including the stainless steel coffee mug. The follow-up mailer included more packages of gourmet coffee, after the recipient set a meeting time to initiate the installation process.
